Arrival & departure times
Standard arrival time is 3.00pm, with departure by 10am on the final day. However we are flexible where possible so do check with us. For the house in Abjat-sur-Bandiat please note that check in is from 4pm. During the Coronavirus pandemic we ask that arrival is from 4pm and departure before 9am please to enable the housekeeping team to carry out a deep clean between bookings.
Payment terms
Preferably payments are made by bank transfer but we would take a cheque by prior arrangement. For bookings within six weeks full payment is required to confirm the booking, otherwise a 30% deposit is required at the time of booking, with the balance due six weeks prior to the start of your holiday. On receipt of full payment we send out directions with the property address and access details. We reserve the right to cancel a booking if full payment is not made by the due date and the deposit paid will be forfeited.
Cancellation by you or us
We recommend that guests take out holiday cancellation insurance.
Should you need to cancel we will do our utmost to re-let the property and if we can do so, for the same value and duration, we’re happy to refund your payment(s), minus a £50 admin. fee. If the property is unavailable due to events beyond our control (e.g. storm damage or State restrictions on travel during the Corona Virus pandemic) we will advise you of the problem as soon as we can and fully refund your money – we can not accept responsibility for any further claims. If guests wish to rebook due to State restrictions on travel as a result of the Corona Virus pandemic – this can be arranged within 12 months from the original start date. If this is a difference in price between the two holidays then the guest is asked to make up for any increase but if the value of the new holiday is less then the difference will be refunded by The Dartmoor Holiday Cottage Co.
Your responsibilities
Guests are expected to take all reasonable care of the property. Please ensure that all equipment, utensils and the property are left clean and tidy at the end of the stay and report any breakages or defects. Guests may be liable for any damage caused to the property during the rental which falls outside reasonable “wear and tear”. If there is an issue during the holiday, please let us know so that we can try to resolve I as soon as possible.
Broadband access
Where available, wireless broadband is provided free of charge for light volume internet use and checking emails etc. It is not provided for high volume downloads or streaming film and video. The service is an additional benefit and isn’t a commitment forming part of the accommodation provided. Other than providing the name and password for the wireless network we’re not able to provide additional technical support.
Smoking
Smoking is not permitted in our properties.
Pets
Where allowed, pets must be kept under control at all times and guests are expected to remove all traces (inside and outside) of their pet’s visit. Dog waste should be bagged and disposed of in metal bins provided please. For the benefit of other guests, pets are not allowed in the bedrooms or on the sofa and chairs. Dogs are not allowed upstairs in the cottages and we can provide a stair-gate if required.
Privacy
We are all aware how our contact details can be misused; please be assured that we will NEVER make your contact information available to any one else. We do send out a Christmas message and make to occasional offer for late cancellations etc. but these emails will number no more than three or four a year.
Water Supply
The water at the cottages in Chaddlehanger is from a private water supply and the filtration and purification plant is regularly checked and the water is certificated by Defra annually.
