Foodie heaven

Tavistock has regular farmers markets but as befits somewhere that has been recently voted both Best Food Town and Best Market Town in the UK – there are also some wonderful food shops: Country Cheeses (which Mary Portas raved about in the Telegraph Magazine), Eversfield Organic Food shop, Dan the Fishman, a great fishmonger who comes down from Clovelly on Tuesdays and Saturdays, Roots & Vines, a wonderful place for fresh produce and provisions, three proper butchers who sell excellent locally reared produce or de la Torres which specialize in Mediterranean food.

Consequently the kitchens at all our cottages are extremely well equipped, satisfying the most exacting of chefs to enjoy cooking with excellent produce with a local provenance.

If you want great food but would like someone else to prepare it for you, we work in partnership with De La Torres, they supply incredible meals, freshly made by their chef and can be organised for your arrival. We are spoilt for choice when eating out and we are happy to recommend and organize bookings at the many excellent local restaurants. These include Hotel Endsleigh, Taylors, The Cornish Arms, the two Michelin Star Gidleigh Park and The Dartmoor Inn at Lydford.
